Don’t go asking ‘¿De dónde eres?’ to the classic Margarita – it’s complicated.
You see, it may have been the manager of Hotel Graci Crespo in Tehuacán, Mexico that first made it for his lover Margarita. It may have been concocted for the ‘Fever’ singer Peggy (Margaret) Lee on a hot Texan night in 1948. To soothe her husky vocal chords? Or it may even have been in homage to the Mexican starlet Rita Hayworth and her tantalising tap dancing to the sounds of Spain.
There’s many more hypotheses. A glamorous woman is usually involved. Somewhere between 1930 and 1950. Anyway, each should be taken with a pinch of salt. Where the story doesn’t change much is the ingredients. Or its preference for a party. Our MOTH: Margarita is no exception. In this can you’ll find smooth award-winning Tequila Enemigo in a heated debate with a classic triple sec and a refreshing sting of lime to greet you at the door. It’s sharp, salty, full of zest and sparkles confidence.

HOW TO SERVE
Serve it over happy moments in a martini or rocks glass to purr with poise. Ours is fresh, but we don't mind it being frozen. It just wants to have fun, and it deserves to be taken all the way. You can show it off with a lime wheel for top marks, or a tiny umbrella and a salted rim. If spice is your thing, add some chilli flakes to that salt dab. If you’re a bit of an adrenaline junkie, go ahead. Add that slice of chilli. You might also want to see this.
If you get the MOTH: Margarita to stop schmoozing for a hot sec and sit down at the table, a real taste fiesta will unfold. Place it next to something smokey, like marinated beef tacos, shredded tender chicken with coriander and corn or rainbow grilled veggies. Watch it come alive. Or consider fruity, fresh pairings like chilli prawn tortilla, crispy fish and mango or a strawberry salsa salad. Now, imagine that on an early summer’s evening. ¡Órale!
